Jane E. Bednar
I've been representing injury accident victims, elders, consumers and small business owners for nearly three decades. I have great compassion for my clients and I work tirelessly to win compensation for them and help them achieve their goals. My approach to client relations emphasizes communication, education, and early resolution of disputes, where possible.
I graduated near the top of my class in 1988 from Monterey College of Law. A Minnesota native, I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and worked as a reporter for the Associated Press and several daily newspapers in Minnesota and Southern California, where I honed my writing and communication skills and developed a deep curiosity about and caring for people that I bring to my legal career.

I've lived in Monterey County for the past 30 years. During that time, I've raised a daughter (now 26 and following both her parents into a legal career); worked on novel, complex and high-value catastrophic injury cases as an associate attorney with Belli & Sabih in Pacific Grove, California; handled more than 250 arbitration hearings in the Dalkon Shield and Breast Implant litigation cases; and enjoyed the wealth of outdoor activities our beautiful area has to offer. I've also been a small business owner and have taught advanced legal writing & analysis and mediation at the law school level. My interests include gardening and plant propagation, cooking, reading, music, hiking, and my pet cats.
In 2005, I established the Law Office of Jane E. Bednar. I have tried numerous cases before judges and juries, and have handled scores of additional cases that settled prior to trial. I've garnered numerous five-star client reviews on Avvo.com. I am a certified mediator and serve on the court-directed mediation panel for the Monterey County Superior Court, as well as for the Mandell Gisnet Center for Conflict Management of the Monterey College of Law.
